Professional Self Care Training
Being Exposed to Trauma and Being Happy, Healthy and Hopeful
When your work involves being exposed to the suffering of others it is critical that you know how, 1) trauma impacts your body and 2) practices to take care of yourself while being exposed to trauma.
This session will provide practical, scientifically proven practices to minimize burnout, compassion fatigue, secondary trauma and promote resilience and self-compassion.
Participants will learn...
~ How mindfulness and/or meditation reduces stress levels and increase cognitive functioning.
~ How breathing and movement can shift your body into a restorative state vs, fight, flight freeze. How journaling helps the brain process trauma events and improves problem solving abilities.
~ How practicing gratitude builds resilience and plays a major role overcoming trauma.
~ How positive affirmations, when internalized on a daily basis, can overcome negative beliefs, uplift mood and energy levels.
What Outcomes Can Be Expected After Training
~ Gain knowledge of the common risk factors of burnout, compassion fatigue and secondary traumatic stress.
~ Learn five proven wellness practices to reduce stress and remain healthy and hopeful while being exposed to trauma.
~ Gain direct experience of the benefits of all five wellness practices to increase motivation to incorporate into a daily practice to mitigate the impact of trauma exposure.
~ Obtain resources on each wellness practice to increase resilience for yourself and your team.
Training Length: 2 hours
Training Compensation: $525 plus travel and expenses, sliding scale for non-profits
